9. Narrative Videos

  1. Definition: Produce videos to narrate a story using a multi-modal approach by including a combination of visuals, narrations, and interviews.
  2. Purpose: To create emotional resonance and immerse viewers in the story.

Techniques:

  1. Follow storytelling techniques like setting out a scene, problematising the issue to raise a conflict and resolution.
  2. Use strong visuals to enhance emotional impact.
  3. Narrate with a clear and engaging voiceover.

Workflow:

  1. Recognise a compelling human-interest story or event.
  2. Combine and collect visuals, interviews and ambient sounds.
  3. Write a script that integrates all elements into a cohesive narrative.
  4. Edit to maintain pacing and emotional engagement.

Use Case: A story of a journalist’s journey to uncover a grassroots movement combating disinformation.
